How to Install PU Faux Stone Panels
A five-step DIY guide to fixing interlocking polyurethane stone, brick and cladding panels — no mortar, no crane, no structural reinforcement.

5-Step Installation Process
Check the Substrate
Confirm the wall is flat, dry and structurally sound — plywood, cement board and masonry all work. Fill any gap deeper than 5 mm with patching compound and let it cure fully before you start; adhesive cannot bridge an uneven surface.
Measure and Dry-Lay
Measure the wall and dry-lay panels first to plan your cut lines and center any focal point. Mark the cuts, then trim panels to size with a standard wood saw or utility knife — PU panels cut cleanly with either.
Apply Adhesive
Apply construction adhesive to the back of each panel in a continuous bead or full-coverage pattern per the manufacturer's instructions. Skimping on adhesive is the single most common cause of panels lifting at the edges later.
Fix the Panel
Press the panel into place and engage the interlocking edge with the previous panel. On fireplace surrounds and other load-bearing runs, add screws through the interlock for extra hold, and leave a small expansion gap at each joint rather than fitting panels edge-tight.
Finish the Edges
Seal exposed edges and outside corners with matching trim or colour-matched caulk, and wipe away excess adhesive before it cures. Check alignment with a level before starting the next row.

25 mm profile with an interlocking edge — on fireplace surrounds and other load-bearing runs, back the adhesive with screws through the interlock for extra hold.

Common Installation Mistakes
This is almost always insufficient adhesive coverage. Apply a continuous bead across the full back of the panel rather than a few dabs — thin or patchy adhesive won't hold the panel's weight through temperature swings.
